Action With Africa Challenge Portal 🆕

This year’s Action With Africa Challenge kicks off with a newly designed 🔗 Action With Africa Challenge Portal which simplifies the application process tremendously. It helps Enactus teams to find all relevant documents at one single location and submit them right there. At the same time, the form provides guidance to participants so that everyone gets a sound understanding of what the individual questions refer to.

Get Started Right Away

After successful login to the portal, your project team can familiarize with the challenge requirements immediately. Thanks to the portal any entries made are auto-saved, which allows you to pause the preparation, close the form and pick it up where you left – even on a different device!

Early-stage & Advanced Projects 🆕

This year, it is the first time both early-stage and advanced projects can apply. The project funding for early-stage projects is limited to 3x EUR 500. The key difference is that advanced projects require a solid proof-of-concept, which early-stage projects do not need.

Reporting & Forecasting Period

The 1st Progress Report covers the reporting period 1 September 2023 to 30 April 2024 (actuals), 1 September 2023 to 31 August 2024 (forecast) and 1 September 2024 to 31 August 2025 (forecast).

2nd Progress Report

Lastly, to complete the Challenge, the TOP 12 project teams must
submit the 2nd Progress Report by 31 October 2024 at 10 AM GMT stating the
actual project results achieved between 1 September 2023 and 31 August
2024 (actuals). The 2nd Progress Report form will be made available in the Action
With Africa Challenge Portal in a timely manner.

Please make sure to carefully review the Action With Africa Agreement and the Evaluation Criterion.

Yes, all teams with new or existing projects are invited to join the Action With Africa Challenge. This year, recently started projects can apply for a early-stage category. Advanced projects still require a proof-of-concept by the time the 1st Progress Report is submitted.

No, unfortunately. The Action With Africa program addresses Enactus projects and it is therefore not possible for individuals or non-Enactus businesses to participate.

Projects that have reached the TOP 8 in 2022 and were part of the TOP 6 in 2023 cannot participate again. All other teams and projects are welcome to apply another time.

For the avoidance of doubt: Enactus university teams that had a project amongst the TOP 8 (2022) and TOP 6 (2023) are allowed to apply again with a different project than the shortlisted one.

The Action With Africa program is an Africa-focused initiative that aims at creating jobs and local SDG impact. To ensure that the project funding is used in African countries, we ask you to explain how you realize your project locally from outside Africa and who supports you with this as a local partner.

Yes and no. You are free to change your project title until you submit your 1st Progress Report. You cannot change it anymore once you have submitted. Projects which – for some reason – submit under a different title than the one initially registered may be excluded from the Challenge.

No, it is only required that the Enactus university team presents a project at the National Competition. It does not need to be the project participating in the Action with Africa Challenge.

Teams have the chance to win their share of EUR 55,000 awarded as project funding:

Early-stage TOP 33x EUR 500

Advanced Projects

RankingProject Funding (EUR)
110,000
27,000
35,000
4 – 62,000
7-121,000

Additionally, the TOP 6 teams will be invited to attend the Enactus World Cup in Astana and receive a fixed amount of travel funding which shall contribute to covering travel expenses.

The Jury Review Form is a newly designed template summarizing your entries from the 1st Progress Report. It presents all relevant information in an easy to read format allowing judges to navigate quickly through the individual questions.

Once you have submitted, you will receive a copy of the Jury Review Form for your records.

Unfortunately, there is not a guaranteed number of people who can travel to Astana. Instead, we will pay a fixed travel contribution in the amount of EUR 2,500 to each TOP 6 team. It then is up to the team to decide how many people can travel from that budget or if they manage to make other funding available. For the avoidance of doubt, the travel contribution is meant to compensate expenses incurred for flights, hotels and meals.

The deadline to sign up on the Action With Africa Challenge Portal is on 18 April at 23:59 GMT. This means that one simply needs
to create an account by that time.

The 1st Progress Report is due on 6 May. This date was chosen because participating teams are expected to report actual financial and impact figures from 1 Sep 2023 to 30 Apr 2024. If a 1st Progress Report is submitted mid of April, it is obvious that the reported figures cannot be true numbers because half of the month April is still to come.

If you happen to submit before 30 April 2024, we kindly ask you to update your numbers in early May and submit again.

To make changes, please log into the Action With Africa Challenge Portal and go to the 1st Progress Report section. You should still be able to open and modify the 1st Progress Report, even though you have submitted it already. If you cannot amend it, please let us know. Note that every time you re-submit a 1st Progress Report, both you and the Action With Africa Team will receive confirmation emails again and a new Jury Review Form document will be created. If we have received various 1st Progress Reports before the deadline from the same project team, we will consider the latest ones once the deadline on 6 May has passed.
